Fisherman’s Landing
Fisherman’s Landing is located on a town-owned site on the Niagara River and immediately south of the South Grand Island Bridge in Grand Island, New York. This site once held a sanitary sewer station, sediment tanks, and an abandoned digester, and was closed to the general public.
Fisherman’s Landing was rehabilitated to provide residents and visitors a waterfront recreational outlet for fishing, bird-watching opportunities, a scenic view of the Niagara River and a stopover and relaxing location for hikers, joggers, and bicyclists traveling to destinations on Grand Island. It was awarded the statewide 2012 Structures and Facilities Award from the American Public Works Association. Advanced Design Group was brought in by Scheid Architectural to provide grading, drainage, stormwater management and access design for the project.
